South RDA specialists, local project managers and national and regional GIZ/MLPS advisors have carried out recently a working meeting with the representatives of IDIS 'Viitorul' where they examined the progress report of the given NGO for quarter III of 2018.
At the same meeting, the partners evaluated the degree of civil society involvement in the implementation in the South Development Region of projects in the field of Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) carried out in Leova and Cahul rayons and of two projects in Energy Efficiency in public buildings (EE) carried out with the support of "Modernization of local project services in the Republic of Moldova" project and European Union financing.
Thus, Liubomir Chiriac, expert of IDIS 'Viitorul' communicated information about the participation of the non-governmental organisation in integrated planning and programming activities at local level and about improving cooperation between LPAs. Also, he mentioned the actions carried out or which will be carried out by the institution he represents related to monitoring of procurement, strengthening capacities of LPAs and service providers, mobilization and raising awareness among population.
Among issues addressed at the meeting was, also, included the support provided by IDIS 'Viitorul' to strengthen the role of South Regional Development Council and Regional Sector Commissions in the Water Supply, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, the creation of a communication platform for Civil Society Organisations at level of LPAs II and South Development Region.
It is important to note that the non-governmental organisation IDIS Viitorul was selected through competition by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ in order to promote the involvement of civil society in the delivery of modern local public services in the South Development Region.
The project 'Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova' is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and financially supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union, the Swedish Government, the Romanian Government and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
