On 6 March 2018, the training course ‘EUREM – European Energy Manager’ was officially launched. It targets energy managers from Rayon Councils. The course is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI) and supported via the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ.

On 6 – 7 March the 1st Module on ‘the Basis of Energy Management’ will take place. During these two days, the participants will find out more about the objectives and structure of energy management system, content and data collecting system, as well as analysis and reduction of costs.

Sergiu Harea, president of CCI: ‘The energy efficiency field is very important for us. The Republic of Moldova is an importing state in terms of energy resources. This is why a special attention should be paid to this sector. The course we launch today has exactly this purpose. During 7 years, since the training has been carried out, more than 120 energy managers from public and private institutions were trained in the field of energy management’.

Dietrich Hahn, GIZ/MLPS International Senior Advisor: ‘EUREM certification has been implemented since April 2011 in Moldova with German and Swedish support through the MLPS/GIZ project and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Chisinau as a project partner. The Europe-wide harmonization of training standards for energy managers through the EUREM mode will help Moldova to introduce and widely apply European standards in the sector… Energy efficiency is a high priority word-wide. And this is not only for economic reasons but also for reasons of resource and climate protection and due to geo-political constellations. The widespread use of energy-efficient technologies and practices will certainly lead to substantial positive effects here in Moldova too’.

Mihail Burusciuc, vice-president of Floresti rayon: ‘We expect during the course to acquire solid knowledge in the field of energy efficiency. This training is much more important now as the implementation of projects in this field began. I wish success to all colleagues and that we gain as much knowledge as possible to be applied in our future activity’.

The course will be carried out in the period March – June 2018. Energy managers from 15 rayon councils will be trained in the course. It will finalise with a public presentation of energy efficiency projects carried out by the participants during the training.  At the end of the course, the participants will pass a theoretical exam and obtain a certificate recognised at European level.

The EUREM course was launched in the Republic of Moldova on 4 April 2011 with financial support of the German Government via the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) Project implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and Eastern Committee of German Economy (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova.
