The list of 23 high schools in the country that would be rehabilitated in terms of their thermal performance from Energy Efficiency Fund sources was approved on Tuesday at the meeting of the Board of the Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF).

About 49 million lei will be allocated by the EEF for the 23 approved projects, of the total budget of 180 million lei available for the public sector this year.

“The pace of work of the Energy Efficiency Fund should be accelerated, it requires a more efficient organization in order to achieve all the objectives we have set up by the end of the year, by harnessing the Fund’s resources in a high quality manner,” the Minister Valeriu Lazar stressed.

The Board of Directors of the Energy Efficiency Fund unanimously approved the funding for 23 energy efficiency projects for a number of schools in the rayons of the country, including two in Chisinau municipality.

Educational institutions have applied for funding to carry out various energy efficiency measures, such as changing windows, insulating walls and roof etc.

In total, the Board has decided to approve the funding of 41 projects so far. The total amount of funding is about 80 million lei. The exact amount will be established following procurement bidding procedures.

On October 4 the Board selected for funding 13 medical institutions in the following rayons: Străşeni, Drochia, Rezina, Ungheni, Floreşti, Orhei, Anenii Noi and Chişinău and four universities, as well as the Russian Drama Theater A.P. Chekhov in Chisinau. 37 million lei were allocated for these projects.
