Today, 04 November, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) signed the Arrangement on Delegated Cooperation regarding “Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova” (MLPS) project for the period 2016-2018. The total amount of the contribution being 35.000.000 SEK (about EUR 3.5 million).

Through this Arrangement, the Donors intend to set forth common provisions and procedures for the delegated cooperation between BMZ and Sida regarding their support to MLPS project, which has the objective of contributing to improved framework conditions for a citizen-oriented implementation of regional development policy in priority sectors of local public service, such as: Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS), Solid Waste Management (SWM), Energy Efficiency (EE) in public buildings and Regional and Local Roads (RLR).

It is necessary to mention that Sida’s financial contribution to MLPS project started in December 2011, supporting regional development institutions and processes towards improved local public service delivery.
