Balti, 14 July 2016. The local public authorities and representatives of the project “Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), participated at the office of the North RDA at a consultation meeting held on the eve of signing the Memorandum of Understanding on development of the feasibility study and environmental impact assessment for creation of integrated waste management system for the Area no. 8 of solid waste management in the North Development Region (Donduseni, Edinet, Briceni, Ocnita Rayons).

The Memorandum, under which the parties to it will define their roles and responsibilities, will be signed soon by the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the Ministry of Environment, the North RDA, Rayon Councils and the Mayor’s Offices of Briceni, Edinet, Ocnita, Donduseni and GIZ.

At the meeting, the representatives of GIZ presented the action plan for development of the feasibility study and environmental impact assessment.

In turn, the local authorities from Donduseni, Edinet, Briceni and Ocnita towns presented the current state of selection of land plots for waste management.

The participants to the meetings took note of the Memorandum of Understanding and discussed details about setting up the local Steering Committee.

Development of the feasibility study for creation of the integrated waste management system for the Area no. 8 of solid waste management will be funded by the European Union.
