The European Union funded Project “Construction of Water Supply and Sanitation infrastructure, as well as Energy Efficiency in public buildings” is implemented in cooperation with “Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova” MLPS project.
Its general objective is to construct and put into service at least 10 projects in the Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) field and 8 projects in the Energy Efficiency (EE) in public buildings field emerging from regional planning. As a result of this Action, up to 200.000 citizens from approximately 22 localities of the Republic of Moldova will become beneficiaries of these measures.
EE measures to be applied for schools will provide optimum conditions for personnel professional activity and studies of students from several localities. In relation to WSS measures, the main expected results are the improvement of infrastructure for the provision of water services and increase of population rate connected to them. All these measures will eventually help in overcoming rural and urban disparities.
It should be noted that the European Union has financially contributed, also, to MLPS project in 2013. Following the Agreement signed between Germany and EU for the implementation of this project, the official signing of the Memoranda of Understanding for implementation of local public services modernization in the sectors concerned is taking place today.
It is to be mentioned that the total budget of the Action is amounting up to EUR 43 million provided by the European Union and its implementation is foreseen until the end of 2020.
