On 23 June this year the impact of the project “Sanitation of Localities of Nisporeni, Straseni and Calarasi Rayons for a Clean and Healthy Environment” was assessed at the Centre RDA by the mayor’s office of Nisporeni town, Nisporeni Rayon.

The assessment team met representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the German Agency for International Cooperation and the Centre RDA, local public authorities-partners in the project, the Technical Responsible and contractors who performed the works in the field.

Thus, the office of the Centre RDA hosted a meeting in which the project documentation was studied starting with the grant application submitted to the Centre RDA in 2010 at the first call for project proposals.

The second half of the day the assessment commission went to the Mayor’s Office of Nisporeni town, where together with the applicant, the partners and the director of Nisporeni Sanitation Service it discussed the difficulties encountered throughout the implementation and the aspects of sustainability of the implemented development project.

The contractor of the construction works and the technical supervisor talked about performance of the works according to the schedule, and the quality standards that guarantee sustainability of investments.

The assessment commission visited the facilities constructed under the project, and the partner mayor’s offices where they talked with their representatives about the relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of the investments made.

We remind that separate waste collection platforms, a household solid waste landfill were constructed, technical equipment, such as containers, waste vehicles and office equipment were purchased as part of this project. A Public Awareness and Sensitization Campaign was carried out and development of a Strategic Plan for Development of the Sanitation Service was relied upon.

The project “Sanitation of Localities of Nisporeni, Straseni and Calarasi Rayons for a Clean and Healthy Environment” was implemented by the Centre Regional Development Agency, the National Regional Development Fund. The amount allocated for implementation of this project was 12,441.4 thousand MDL under which the local authorities assumed the responsibility to ensure project sustainability.

Following this assessment, the responsible persons of the MRDC with the support of GIZ experts shall develop a report for impact monitoring and assessment. It shall contain observations and recommendations necessary to avoid them in implementation of other regional development projects.
