On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Flaminzeni village of Singerei rayon, the inauguration of energy efficiency measures implemented at the ‘Iurie Boghiu’ Gymnasium, carried out under the European Union (EU) funded project ‘Construction of Water Supply and Sewerage Infrastructure as well as Energy efficiency in public buildings’ took place.

The event was attended by the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the German Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the North Regional Development Agency (RDA), GIZ Moldova country director, local public authorities, representatives of the construction company, students and their parents, residents of the village Flaminzeni and representatives of civil society. 

Thus, with the support of the European Union, 330 students and teachers from the ‘Iurie Boghiu’ Gymnasium in Flaminzeni village benefit from improved study conditions and a comfortable working environment.

The energy efficiency works of the ‘Iurie Boghiu’ Gymnasium in Flaminzeni village of Singerei rayon included the insulation of external walls of the building, installation of ventilation and anti-fire systems, modernisation of the kitchen, installation of a photovoltaic system for production of electricity, outdoor lighting and of related ground, access path for people with special needs. 

Thanks to the implemented energy efficiency measures the annual normalised energy consumption of the ‘Iurie Boghiu’ Gymnasium in Flaminzeni has been reduced by about 552 MW/hour and the annual normalised CO2 emissions have decreased by about 102 tons. The total value of the energy efficiency works is 21.7 million MDL, of which 21.28 million MDL is granted by the European Union and 430.5 thousand MDL – local contribution. 

The energy efficiency works for ‘Iurie Boghiu’ Gymnasium in Flaminzeni village of Singerei rayon were financed by the European Union and implemented by the North Regional Development Agency, under the ‘Construction of Water Supply and Sewage Infrastructure as well as Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings’. The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the German Development Cooperation Cooperation through GIZ (Moldova) in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The total budget of the project is 39.8 million Euro.
