Representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) and Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) have participated in the period16-20 December 2014, in a study visit to Estonia in the field of public communication and regional marketing. The visit was financially supported and organized by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, within the project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to Estonia.
The 6 participants in the study visit met with the responsible persons for managing public relations processes in the Estonian Regional and Local Development Agency ERKAS, Presidency of Estonia, National Audit Office. However, the delegation met with representatives of civil society and the Estonian media.
‘I think that those in charge of promoting regional development in the communities of our country felt the need for study visits of this kind long ago. We communicate to the public information about the development of regions from our country and what kind of projects is implemented. Many know that the purpose of development projects is to create better living conditions for people, according to the model of states of the European Union’ says the RDA North communication specialist, Ion Uruşciuc.
Since 2012, GIZ has facilitated the development of an annual training course dedicated to internal and external communication. Through such training sessions, GIZ project aims to increase the capacity of its partners – Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and Regional Development Agencies – to coordinate and monitor the process of regional development. However, for this we need to develop an effective system of communication, both internally and externally.
GIZ also supports the development of a communication strategy of MRDC for 2015-2018. At the same time, in 2015 it will be held a national communication campaign in regional development.
The project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and is financially supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and the European Union.
