On 24 May, 2016 the works for the recinstruction and modernization of the wastewater treatment plant from Costesti town, Riscani Rayon started. The event was attended by the representatives of the Regional Development Agency North, GIZ, Costesti municipality, the contractor responsible for the execution of works, as well as persons in charge of supervision of execution of construction works who will provide consultancy throughout the working process.

The works will be carried out under the pilot project ‘Improvement of Water and Sanitation Services in Riscani Rayon’, implemented by the RDA North with funding from the German Government provided through the ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ project implemented by GIZ. The rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment plant will result in improved sewerage and wastewater treatment services for the inhabitants of Costesti town and of Duruitoarea Veche village. In addition, the reconstructed and modernized treatment plant will ensure the efficient treatment of wastewater and will prevent the pollution of the soil and Prut river water.

The estimated value of reconstruction and modernization of the wastewater treatment plant from Costesti is around MDL 6 million. The total amount of investments within the ‘Improvement of Water and Sanitation Services in Riscani Rayon’ project has amounted to about MDL 20.8 million lei so far.
