The events dedicated to Europe Day 2022 have passed, still we are pleased to recall those beautiful moments spent with the representatives of the European Union Delegation in the Republic of Moldova and the EU Ambassador HE Jānis Mažeiks, together with the Embassies of the EU Member States, partners and beneficiaries of the ‘Modernisation of local public services’ (MLPS) project.
To increase the visibility of the EU support to communities in Moldova, but also to promote GIZ/MLPS results, the project team participated in events and activities dedicated to Europe Day in Chisinau on 14 May, in Ungheni on 15 May, and in Edinet on 21 May.
Representatives of the North Regional Development Agency (North RDA), ME Apa-Canal Ungheni, Apa-Canal Edinet joined the MLPS team and told the visitors about the EU-funded infrastructure projects, the support received from the EU and the German Government and the results achieved so far.
Throughout the events, in the MLPS tent, short videos and cartoons related to water and sanitation services, energy efficiency, waste management and environmental protection were shown. The children visiting the tent were able to creatively express their vision of a cleaner country and a happier world through drawings. All the boys and girls received coloured pencils, sports equipment bags or reusable water bottles as gifts.
In Ungheni, water testing equipment was exhibited in the Micul Cluj Park and drinking water purification processes were demonstrated to visitors.
In Edinet, on the main square of the town, at the MLPS tent adults had the opportunity to have fun together with children as they made a “Road of a Tariff” puzzle, a game developed by one of the MLPS project grantees Association of Environmental Journalists. At the event, the Ambassador of the European Union, Jānis Mažeiks, together with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the Director of North RDA, Maria Prisacari and the Mayor of Edinet Municipality, Constantin Cojocaru, visited the MLPS tent and greeted the project team.
