New initiatives of collaboration and cooperation opportunities in regional development have been identified today, 8 December within Foreign Assistance Coordination Council meeting in the field of regional development and construction, held in Chisinau.

Vasile Bitca, Minister of Regional Development and Construction mentioned in the beginning of the meeting, about the importance of regional sector planning, utility of regional sector plans developed with the support of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and the need to develop General urban plans of rural areas in Moldova.

‘EU funds planned for 2014-2020 provides new opportunities for regional development in our country by achieving Joint Operational Programme Romania – Republic of Moldova 2014 – 2020, Joint Operational Programme ‘Black Sea Basin’ 2014 – 2020, the Transnational Programme ‘Danube’ 2014 – 2020, launched in September this year. It is important to note the impact of realized projects on the quality of life of beneficiaries and intensify inter-institutional cooperation in order to achieve efficient execution of projects. I am convinced that meetings in this format drive institution’s activities and contribute to the formation of a consensus vision, including the possibility of expanding cooperation with donors’, said Vasile Bitca, Minister of Regional Development and Construction.

However, within the meeting, there were nominated priority activities and projects carried out this year by the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction together with Regional Development Agencies and sector needs were updated.

The meeting was attended by representatives of government institutions, donor organizations and embassies, as well as civil society representatives.
