On 18 May 2017, Orhei Rayon Hospital was visited by a delegation of Swedish Embassies in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The event had a documenting purpose on cooperation status and perspectives between international development partners and, in particular, between Sweden and Orhei Rayon Hospital administration.

The Swedish delegation was joined by representatives from Centre Regional Development Agency (RDA), Orhei Rayon Council and advisors of ‚Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project.

During the event a presentation of achievements, current and further activities as a result of ‚Increasing Energy Efficiency in Orhei Regional Hospital’ project implementation carried out by Centre RDA and supported financially by German Development Cooperation through GIZ under the MLPS project was done. Elena Palanciuc, director of the hospital thanked the Government of Sweden and all other development partners for the assistance and support provided over the last five years. ‚Orhei Rayon Hospital managed to become a model in energy efficiency in public buildings in the whole country. Besides considerable annual savings, the hospital has become attractive, also, for patients from other rayons. Although, the hospital has a rayon status, the inhabitants of neighbouring rayons Soldanesti, Telenesti and Rezina, also, benefit from services it provides, mentioned Elena Palanciuc.

Also, Valentina Plesca, national senior advisor on local public services (MLPS/GIZ) made a presentation on the goal, mission and objectives of ‚Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project. The event ended with a tour of the hospital, in which the participants had the possibility to visit the premises that have benefitted from Swedish and German Governments support, among them the administrative, perinatal and therapeutic units.

The project ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and is financially supported by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swedish Government, the Romanian Government, the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
