The meeting of the extended working group within the ‘Rehabilitation of the drinking water purification plant from Cahul city’ took place in Cahul city recently.

During the meeting, the general contractor Izodromgaz SRL, presented the information on the carrying out of the works planned within the project. Also, the officials took notice of the  documentation proving that there is a necessity for the contractor to execute some additional works which appeared within the project. The documents prepared by the author of the project and the letter issued by the beneficiary in this respect were also examined.

Victor Caun, Ministry of Regional Development and Construction representative,  Maria Culesov, RDA South director together with Sergiu Andronachi, project monitoring specialist, Sergiu Plesca, GIZ advisor and others met Nicolae Dandis, the mayor of Cahul and LPA lev. I head, the beneficiary of the mentioned project together with the acting head of the Municipal Enterprise ‘Apa-Canal’ Cahul, Gheorghe Ghetivu and  Ion Iancovschi, the reprezentative of the general contractor SRL ’Izodromgaz’ assigned for the execution of the works.  

In the opening of the meeting, Sergiu Andronachi presented the agenda and specified the main goal of the meeting which was the acceptance or rejection by the beneficiary of the non-compliances recorded by the contractor.  

Ion Iancovschi brought before the participants the contractor’s objections received as an answer to the beneficiary’s letter. The beneficiary together with the design company representative backed up the answers on clarifying quantities related to connections and installation of pipes, flanges, elbows, etc. which are to be executed during project implementation, implying the necessity of presenting an additional design and cost estimate for the construction of  a telpher in the filters room.

It was decided for all involved actors and namely the representatives of the beneficiary, contractor and designer to settle a meeting to analyse the and decide on the encountered non-compliances.  

Maria Culesov, ADR South director and Sergiu Andronachi, project monitoring specialist specialist spoke about the procedure of contracting additional works. They mentioned that for the carrying out of this procedure four basic documents are necessary: tender dossier, designer’s bill of quantities, explanatory report and contractor’s bill of quantities. At the same time, the RDA South officials stated that without the designer’s consent no additional works will be approved and executed within the ‘Rehabilitation of the drinking water purification plant from Cahul city’ project, which started two weeks ago.

At the end of the meeting, Ion Iancovschi presented the information on the carrying out of the works within the project. Until now the valves, waterproofing material were purchased and the dismantling of the valves in the filters room and of the tiles from inside four rapid filters began, etc.
