In Calarasi and Ungheni debriefing meetings of Local Steering Committees (LSC) took place for activities carried out in quarter III of 2018 under projects ‘Improvement of water supply and sanitation services in Calarasi town’ and ‘Improvement of water supply and sanitation services in Ungheni town’, implemented by Centre RDA and financed by the European Union.

Members of LSCs discussed the current situation of the carried out works and agreed on plans of activities to be performed in the quarter IV of 2018. Also, the representatives of the local public authorities confirmed the availability of their 2019 contribution allocation.

The project ‘Implementation of water supply and sanitation services in Calarasi town’ provides for the connection of 9300 citizens to the water supply system and of approx. 5700 citizens to the sewage system. 13,7 km of water networks and 4,6 km of sewage networks will be rehabilitated.  The total estimated cost of the project is around EUR 2.2 million provided by the donors together with EUR 190.000 – contribution of partners.    

Under the second project ‘Improvement of water supply and sanitation services in Ungheni town’ it is provided for additional connection of 750 citizens to the water supply system and of approx. 1500 citizens to sewage system. Also, 5.4 km of water supply network will be extended and another 12.4 km – rehabilitated. European donors will allocate EUR 2.9 million for this project and the partners contribution is estimated at around EUR 240.000. 

The money will be provided by the European Union via the ‘Modernization of Local Public Service in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLSP) project.
