The German Development Cooperation through GIZ is looking for a Project Administrative Assistant/Translator within its „Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova” project.

The Assistant will support the project administration in organizing and conducting project activities and events, providing verbal and written translation of project documents and papers; supporting project professionals and experts in developing and providing high-quality reports.

The main responsibilities shall include:

 

  • support project personnel, national and international experts in translations during workshops, presentations and similar events;
  • ensure that all event related activities are being performed according to the GIZ rules and regulations;
  • support project personnel, national and international experts in events organisation and logistics;
  • support project administration in ensuring a meaningful and goal-set outcome of project events;
  • draft and distribute minutes of meeting and protocols of project internal and external events;
  • proofread, edit, and revise translated materials, ensuring that translations retains the content and meaning of the original material;
  • verify translation of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation review;
  • compile terminology and information tables to be used in translations, including technical terms such as those for WSS/EnEf/SWM and other;
  • translate simultaneously or consecutively messages into specified languages, maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible; follows GIZ principles with regard to data confidentiality.

 

Required qualifications:

  • University Degree in Foreign Languages (English and/or German), Law, or Public Administration;
  • Certification in providing authorised translation (Moldovan Ministry of Justice), if available;
  • At least 2 years general work experience involving translations (written and verbal), as an in-house or full-time freelance translator preferred;
  • Excellent English and Romanian writing and communication skills; Russian or German would be an asset;
  • Be a team player, supportive of colleagues and able to ask for support when required;
  • Able to work to deadlines, under stress, and cheerfully;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Internet and other);
  • Willing and able to travel inside and outside the country for event support, when needed.
