On 3 December 2014, the Academy of Public Administration has completed the piloting of the course ‘Leadership development in public administration’. Thus, employees of city halls and rayon councils will benefit from this new training programme from 2015.

The training begins with useful information on personal leadership, followed by interpersonal relationships and how they can contribute to organizational development, mission, vision and institutional values statement by each participant. This is to emphasize that all the activities in which they work tend towards a common purpose and direction of development.

‘The establishment of this course in the academy’s programme will allow both to strengthen the abilities of local public administration leaders and the rise of new leaders in the Republic of Moldova’ says the director of professional development department of the Academy of Public Administration of Moldova, Aurelia Tepordei.

Piloting offered the opportunity to effectively structure the content of the course and obtain the response of participants on the usefulness and timeliness of the information presented. The proposals made by trainers will be considered to improve the content and teaching methodology.

Teaching the course will involve the 5 certified trainers trained. During 2014, several activities were organized for capacity building of trainers, training materials development and piloting of the course ‘Leadership development in public administration’. These activities were facilitated and financially supported by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, through the project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’.
