On 17 September, members of Monitoring Committee of ‘Modernization of Local Public Services’ (MLPS) project implemented by German Development Cooperation through GIZ met in a working meeting. The goal of the session was to discuss the project activities and progress in the reporting period July – September 2017 and activities planned for October-December period.

The event was attended by representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE), Regional Development Agencies (North, Centre, South and TAU Gagauzia), development partners and MLPS co-financing partners, as well as, MLPS project advisors. 

Dorin Andros, Secretary of State, MARDE: ‘During the last three months we managed to make progress in the implementation, although we have to admit that, there are, also, delays which, I am sure we will make up for and be able to put a tick on in the next quarter. We have an efficient cooperation, also, in the implementation of activities financed by the European Union. In the future we have to be rigorous, correct and follow the agreed terms, for in the end all citizens of the Republic of Moldova have to benefit from this’.

Christina Otto, MLPS project manager: ‘We are aware that during the last three months of project’s activity we had successes – as, for instance, the creation of Regional Sector Commissions and the launching of technical design tenders for the EU funded investment projects – as, well, as certain challenges, especially with regard to public procurement procedures… MLPS project is developing very fast, which shows this is a successful project. Now it is important for all of us to take the responsibility for implementing this fundings in order to achieve all proposed goals’.

During the meeting, MLPS/GIZ advisors talked about the achievements and challenges encountered in the four intervention areas of the project during the reporting period. They, also, mentioned the activities planned for the next quarter and pointed out the challenges that might appear in the future, identifying, at the same time, the possible solutions in this respect.
