The Prime Minister, Iurie Leanca started his working visit to Cahul rayon with a stopover at the water pumping station in Rosu village, renovated within a project accomplished with the support of European partners. Due to this project, 2,100 people, or 75 percent of its population have access to quality tap water.

Iurie Leanca declared that regional development is a sector that has benefited in recent years, of increased attention. “This is the European integration we want and for which we work: the welfare of every citizen and Moldova’s modernization. And this is how we can integrate in Europe – bringing European values ​​and standards in the daily life of each citizen of the country” said the Prime minister. In this context, the head of the Executive expressed his gratitude to the Governments of Germany and Romania, which have contributed nearly three million MDL for rehabilitation of water pumping station and water supply infrastructure in Rosu village.

The event was attended by Mr. Matthias Meyer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, who mentioned the importance of the project for rural development of the country. “I am coming from the countryside, from a German village. I know what the problem of tap water is. We managed to get water in our village during ten years, this being the period that was needed for the implementation of a project like that. You are lucky, you managed just in two years “, said Matthias Meyer.

However, the Ambassador invited the villagers to visit Germany, when the decision on visa liberalization regime for the citizens from the Republic of Moldova will come into force.

Soon, the residents of Rosu village will have access to sewerage network, which will be built due to a contribution of 720.000 Euros, provided by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. Today, the Prime Minister visited as well the premises of “Apa-Canal Cahul” enterprise, which technical and dispatch block have been renovated due to a support in amount of 34.000 Euros provided by the same German partners.

The irredeemable financial assistance of the German Government for the modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova, in the years 2010-2015, represents almost 18 Mio. Euros. The Governments of Romania and Sweden, as well as the European Union come with their own contributions to projects for rural infrastructure development in our country.

We would like to remind that one week ago, Iurie Leanca attended the inauguration of the water supply systems in two villages in Stefan Voda rayon and one in Causeni.
