There were held public hearings regarding the local development plan for water supply and sanitation services. Currently, 15 municipalities in the Rascani rayon, beneficiaries of the pilot project ‘Improvement of water supply and sanitation services in Rascani rayon’ update these local plans, having the desire to create and reinforce a common service.

The Mayor of Costesti, Ivan Plesca, requested consultations with citizens so that they expose themselves on the objectives and actions required from the local authorities, in order to ensure both a dynamic development of drinking water supply to villages, that are part of Costesti City Hall and wastewater treatment, thus improving living conditions for residents and creating new preconditions for economic growth and the standard of living in the community.

Within public hearings, Liudmila Pelin, deputy mayor and local manager of the pilot project, presented the Action Plan for the period 2015-2020. Approximately 35 people attended the event, including representatives of all settlements in the composition of LPA Costesti, local councilors, members of local NGOs, and the entire Local Citizens Committee composed, examined the draft Action Plan developed by the local working group within a planning workshop facilitated by experts from the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. The proposals, presented by the participants in the hearings, have been documented in order to be included, depending on their relevance, in the Action Plan, a document that will be presented to Costesti City Council for approval.

The activity took place within the pilot project ‘Improvement of water supply and sanitation services in Rascani rayon’ conducted by the North Regional Development Agency and funded by the German Government through the project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ managed by GIZ.
