A group of representatives of local public authorities and Municipal solid waste management businesses in Centre Development Region (CDR) met today to discuss on inter-municipal cooperation to implement successful regional projects.

The workshop was organized by the Centre Regional Development Agency (Centre RDA) in partnership with the project ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’, implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ.

The meeting was attended by several experts from Romania and the Republic of Moldova offered by GIZ, which have brought concrete examples of cooperation from personal experience in implementing projects and urged the participants in the workshop to take this opportunity to establish a platform for dialogue between (LPA) levels I and II and Municipal solid waste management enterprises in the DRC.

Participants identified the advantages of inter-municipal cooperation and mechanisms for initiating the local dialogue to develop inter-municipal cooperation for the common provision of qualitative services in solid waste management (SWM).

Also, those present were informed on Regional Sector Programme in SWM for the Development Region Centre, which was approved by the Regional Development Council Centre in June this year. Here were presented, as well, the projects implemented by Centre RDA in solid waste management, but also beautiful examples of inter-municipal cooperation which were set to achieve common development projects.

Following interactive discussions the working groups have determined that it is essential to develop capacity building and awareness that regionalization of service delivery is a necessity, which can be achieved by inter-municipal cooperation.
