Chisinau will host the national conference ‘Cross border cooperation: achievements of the Republic of Moldova in the period 2007-2013’. The event will take place on Friday, 31 October 2014. The event is organized by the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) and with the support of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ.

Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Moldova will welcome officials of the Embassies of the countries and international organisations accredited to Moldova. Furthermore, the conference invites representatives of the programmes and institutions involved in the management of the cross-border cooperation (CBC) programmes. They will have the opportunity to get in direct contact with the attending project beneficiaries: people, who have implemented a CBC-project or are at the moment managing one.

The aim of the conference is to present the latest developments in the implementation of CBC programmes in the Republic of Moldova. It will provide a view on the future of the new generation of Programmes, which are financed under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) and are expected to start this year. A particular aspect will be the role and the responsibilities taken over by the various actors in Republic of Moldova in managing and putting into practice cross-border programmes and projects. Last but not least the conference aims at building networks and creating synergies between the stakeholders within the country and their activities.

Thus, the conference is a perfect platform for extensive, direct first-hand exchange of experiences in the field of CBC. Best practices and lessons learned from the period 2007-2013 will be presented and discussed. The results will contribute to designing and managing the future CBC programmes for the period 2014-2020, which are currently under preparation. Moreover, the conference will stimulate interested parties to identify and develop good CBC projects and help them to apply successfully for their EU-funding.
