The Local Steering Committee for the monitoring of the ‘Modernization of water supply and sanitation local public services in Leova Rayon’ pilot project was held on Thursday, 3 March 2016 within the premises of Leova Rayon Council. It was the third meeting of this kind since the establishing of the Committee and the first one this year.

Members of the Committee, among which are representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions, Regional Development Agency South, German Development Cooperation  (GIZ) and Leova Rayon LPAs levels I and II gathered to discuss several important issues related to activities planned within the project and their smooth implementation.  

In the opening of the meeting,  Ion Gudumac, the president of Leova Rayon and president of the Local Steering Committee greeted the participants and announced the agenda and the goals of the event. According to the agenda, Valeriu Porubin, the project manager put up for discussion the setting-up of the Local Citizen Committees within Leova MLPS project implementation area.   

The pilot project progress report for 2015 was presented. Also, perspectives of extending the area of assistance for the localities where the construction of water supply networks is ongoing were discussed at the meeting.  These localities may benefit from the assistance in the field of municipal cooperation  aiming at regionalisation of water supply and sanitation services.  

At the end of the meeting and after several consultaions and conclusions,  the main necessary activities were established which are to be carried out within the  ‘Modernization of water supply and sanitation local public services in Leova Rayon’ pilot project  in 2016-2018.
