Buildings consume around 54% of total energy consumption in the country, having the greatest potential of reducing consumption. That is why, energy efficiency in public buildings should have a significant place in the policy promoted by the Republic of Moldova’, declared in the opening of the workshop Ion Cozma, interim vice director of EEA.

The objectives of the workshop were the development and documenting energy audits according to local standards and DIN EN 16247, as well as ensuring appropriate technical solutions for energy rehabilitation of a building in accordance with EU standards considered valid for Moldova.

Dietrich Hahn, MLPS/GIZ Senior International Advisor pointed out: ‘European Union has earmarked funds for development of technical designs in energy efficiency, that is why there is a need for well-trained experts both from public and private fields’.

Also, another workshop objective lied in ensuring standard checklists and standard list of subjects to be considered in developing a quality technical design for EE rehabilitation of schools and hospitals.

The workshop was carried out by the German expert in the field of energy efficiency, Christian Bösselmann, who coordinates the energy audit activity performed by the local companies selected for projects which are to be implemented with EU financial support. At the event, the German expert presented to the participants the methodology of energy audits and, also, how commentaries from previous audit reports are being examined.
