From December 2013 through February 2014, the 2,200 residents of Tatarauca Veche Village were informed about the benefits of the public street lighting system, but also about citizens’ responsibility to pay their bills in a timely manner for this common good.

The campaign aimed to remind people of the costs and benefits of public services such as street lighting. Thus, the message ‘Village Back to Life through the Power of Light’ accompanied the campaign’s 1,000 flyers and 1,000 booklets.

The promotional materials were disseminated during five public meetings and ten workshops for pupils at the local secondary school. A thematic drawing contest was organised for the pupils.

At the same time, the campaign involved action by the local citizens committee, which oversees the proper implementation of the street lighting project. This group of volunteers engages in community mobilisation in order to connect people to the service and encourage punctual payment of fees.
