On 01 February, National Solid Waste Management Association from the Republic of Moldova – MOLDSWA, in partnership with Ministry of Environment, International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and with support of German Development Cooperation through GIZ /’Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ project has organised the International Forum – ‘Perspectives of Developing National Solid Waste Management Association in the Republic of Moldova’.

The Forum covered the following subjects:

  • Presentation of objectives and lines of action pursued by MOLDSWA as national professional association in waste management field in the short and medium term;
  • Dissemination of good practices on the work of Romanian Association for Waste Management – ARMD as national professional association in solid waste management field;
  • Rationale for advantages conferred  by MOLDSWA membership and for members’ active role by taking part in sector commissions in the field;
  • Inter-Community Development Associations (A.D.I.) – their role in implementing integrated waste management system at locality, region and country levels;
  • Successful projects implemented in the Republic of Moldova and Romania in the field of integrated waste management (authorities, operators of solid waste management)

At the Forum the Action Plan for 2017 was discussed which will include joint meetings with authorities, operators, associations, civil society where  key issues in integrated waste management field will be discussed and solutions for implementing an efficient system adapted to Republic of Moldova reality  will be identified.  

The project ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and is financially supported by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swedish Government, the Romanian Government, the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
