The constituent meeting of the Local Steering Committee (LSC) of the pilot project “Improving water supply and sanitation services in the Riscani rayon” took place within the project “Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova” (MLPS).
The meeting was attended by Sergiu Cecan, head of the Relations with Regional Development Institutions Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction; Ion Bodrug, Director of North RDA; Constantin Bandiu, Head of Project Management Section of North RDA, Valentina Plesca, Senior national advisor on local public services (GIZ), Alexandru Cheptanaru, deputy president of Riscani rayon; Ivan Plesca, mayor of the town of Costesti; Sergiu Gavajuc, acting director of Municipal Enterprise ‘Apa-Canal’; representatives of Ecological Inspectorate, Public Health Centre, ‘Costesti-Info’ NGO and Local Citizens Committee (CLC) of Riscani rayon.
The MLPS project in the WSS sector for the Riscani rayon was presented at the meeting. The operational plan for the implementation of the pilot project ‘Improving water supply and sanitation services in Riscani rayon’was discussed based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 16 December 2014.
The LSC of the abovementioned project shall serve as a platform to ensure a better cooperation between the key stakeholders in the project implementation in particular and in the regional development policy in general.
Committee members examined the LSC regulation of operation and approved it unanimously.
In compliance with the regulations, Alexandru Cheptanaru, Vice President of Riscani rayon was elected as LSC President, the mayor of Costesti town, Ivan Plesca, was appointed as Vice President of the LSC, and a member of Costesti Town Council, Liudmila Pelin, who is also the project manager, was appointed as LSC secretary.
