Implementation of the water supply and sewerage projects, involvement of the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) in achieving energy efficiency improvement projects, as well as rendering bilateral cooperation more efficient were the main topics discussed during the meeting held yesterday with the Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Marcel Raducan and Her Excellency, Ingrid Tersman, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova.
Speaking about the implementation of projects aiming at increasing energy efficiency in public buildings, Minister Marcel Raducan mentioned that the RDAs teams already have the necessary capacities to achieve such projects and contribute consistently to the development of local public authorities’ capabilities.
“The agencies gained this experience during the four years of regional development policy implementation, so it would be very useful to harness the existing capacities and tools with a view to initiating new cooperation opportunities”, stated. The Minister also explained the stages of regional project evaluation and approval for funding from the National Fund for Regional Development, and noticed the involvement of regional development councils and ministries at each of the listed stages, which ensures a transparent and equitable mechanism.
“I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to Her Excellency for supporting our country, including in drafting the Law on Energy Efficiency, as well as in the implementation of regional development projects”, the Minister Marcel Raducan noted.
In turn, Her Excellency, Ingrid Tersman, appreciated the cooperation results achieved within the regional development projects and expressed her willingness to continue assisting Moldova in the European integration process and provide all the necessary support for the balanced development of its regions. “is a key program in terms of size, impact and content. We must streamline cooperation in this matter and identify new areas which need to be provided support”, Her Excellency, Ingrid Tersman, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova said.
During the meeting, Minister Marcel Raducan also spoke about the opportunities to broaden the intervention areas by domains and thanked Sweden for its willingness to provide support in promoting regional development policy and sustaining the regional initiatives.
