On 24 May 2017, the representatives of ‚Modernization of  Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project, implemented by German Development Cooperation through GIZ and development partners (donors of MLPS project) carried out a working visit to the Centre Development Region (RDC).

The visit began with a working meeting with Viorel Jardan, director of Centre Regional Development Agency (RDA) and the specialists of this institution. The participants talked about achievements and activities of MLPS project planned for 2017, mentioning, also, certain challenges that might appear and at the same time identifying solutions in this respect.

Further, the delegation visited Ungheni where it took part in a round table with Ludmila Guzun, president of the rayon, rayon councellors and a group of mayors of Ungheni rayon localities. The goal of this event was to present and discuss the results of three projects which are to be implemented in Ungheni rayon.

Ludmila Guzun, president of Ungheni rayon: ‘The implementaiton of these projects is an urgent need for the existing population. Thank you for the technical assistance provided in developing the feasibility study, energy audit carried out locally with MLPS/GIZ experts and Centre RDA. We are open to discuss what we have achieved so far and what challenges we have encountered. At the same time, the dynamic implementation of certain complex projects requires big investments, as well as reponsibilities. We are aware of the comittments of the Rayon Council and with all seriosity assure you of their sustainability’.

Philipp Johannsen, GIZ country director and MLPS project manager underlined the importance of an open dialogue with the local public authorities: ‘Our purpose is to see at what stage we are in preparing and implementing the projects. I want us to have a constructive dialogue on what we have achieved, what are the challenges and what else needs to be done further. This meeting is an opportunity to have honest, open and efficient discussions. It is good to highlight the priorities, but, also, identify the challenges and the solutions in this respect’.

In the second part of the day, the delegation made a visit to the site alloted for the construction of the regional landfill on the territory of Floritoaia Veche, Ungheni rayon.
