Private sector representatives strengthen their capabilities on public procurement procedures within informative sessions organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. The events take place within the Project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’, component ‘Complementary private sector support’, from the sources offered by the European Union.

During the seminars, economic operators carrying out activities in the areas of water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, energy efficiency in public buildings and regional and local roads are informed about public procurement procedures. Thus, they are likely to submission and implementation of coherent and realistic bids for public tenders related to investment projects in the public area.

The seminar was facilitated by Ecaterina Grib, procurement expert, who discussed topics related to the assessment of procurement procedures and the forced exclusion of economic operators, frequent violations of economic operators and contracting authorities. Also, the expert stressed the importance of specific deadlines in public procurement procedures and the rights and obligations of contracting authorities and economic operators within procurement procedures, emphasizing the need for documentation of the parties and, not least, compliance.

The seminars are organized in eight localities of the country: Balti, Soroca, Edinet, Orhei, Hincesti, Ungheni, Cahul and Tighina; seminar schedule can be found here.

From 8 workshops proposed, 5 have been already held in Ungheni, Hincesti, Cahul, Balti and Edinet, which were attended by over 100 economic operators.
