In Chisinau was held the finalization meeting of ‘Complementary private sector support’ component within  ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova (CCI), German Development Cooperation through GIZ, Sequa experts and private sector representatives.

In the opening of the meeting, Valerian Binzaru, head of Directorate General Regional Development (MRDC), who was also the moderator of the event, mentioned that ‘activities of the subcomponent related to complementary private sector support are carried out according to the agreed plan’.

Alexandr Muravschi, GIZ/MLPS National Leading Policy Advisor on Regional and Local Development, thanked those involved in activities for contributing to the component’s implementation.
During the event there were discussed the results of private sector capacity development in public procurement, private sector benefits and complementary support  for this sector, and the role and mission of Regional Development Agencies in this respect. However, participants in the event have made an assessment of the results related to this field and scored a few ideas that will be considered in future activities.

Activities carried out within MLPS component ‘Complementary private sector support’ during the period 2014-2015:

  • 3 training and information modules for economic operators in public procurement in 9 localities of Moldova (in total 27 seminars);
  • 3 Training of Trainers modules for 20 representatives of the CCI, which involved consulting services with respect to the preparation of bids by economic operators and other aspects of public procurement relevant for the private sector;
  • Creating a database of economic operators;
  • Two study visits and participation in international exhibition ‘Green Venture’;
  • Development of public procurement guidelines for economic operators;
  • 3 sessions of the Working Group at national level;
  • 6 sessions of the Working Group at regional level.

The project ‘Modernization of local public services in the Republic of Moldova’ is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and is financially supported by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swedish Government, the Romanian Government, the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
