At Centre Regional Development Agency (RDA Centre) a working group was held targeting representatives from Centre RDA, the ‘Modernisation of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ project implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and civil society.  At the meeting the Institute for Urban Development (IDU) was presented, an NGO selected to promote the engagement of civil society in modern local public services delivery process. During the implementation of the contract, IDU will facilitate mobilization of community under the projects carried out with GIZ support in Centre Region in the field of Energy Efficiency in public buildings and Water Supply and Sanitation.  

Petru Veverita, GIZ/MLPS National Senior Advisor made a brief presentation and mentioned that: „…the NGO for Centre Development Region was selected following a competition carried out for civil society organisations and it will get involved in the local public services delivery process under the projects which will benefit from MLPS project support’.

Veaceslav Bulat, IDU director made a presentation of the work plan to be implemented based on the 5 pillars approach: local planning and programming, inter-municipal cooperation, investments in physical infrastructure, capacity development mobilization and awareness raising. According to the plan, local planning groups are to be established and support will be provided in the process of strategic planning and inter-municipal cooperation promotion in delivery of water supply and sanitation services.

Institute for Urban Development is a nongovernmental public association, apolitical, non-profit, targeted on enlisting the efforts of consultants and research institutions, public authorities and civil society, so as to implement modern methods on urbanism and territory arrangement and to improve the activity of state bodies and local public government in the frame of sustainable development of urban and rural localities.
