Today, 8 December, Centre Regional Development Agency (RDA) and German Development Cooperation through GIZ signed the Financing Agreement on the development of tender documentation for construction works of selected projects in the field of water supply and sanitation and energy efficiency in Centre Region. It will be implemented by Centre RDA with the support of GIZ in the frame of ‘Modernisation of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project and financed by the European Union.

The total value of the Agreement is around EUR 848.000 provided by the European Union on the basis of the Grant Agreement signed between the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ in Eschborn, Federal Republic of Germany.

The general objective is to increase the access of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to improved water supply and sanitation services as well as energy efficiency in public buildings.

The allocated funds will be used for contracting companies, which will develop technical documentation for the following investment projects:

In the field of Water Supply and Sanitation:

  • Improving water supply and wastewater services in the town of Ungheni
  • Improving water supply and wastewater services in the town of Calarasi
  • Improving sewerage system in Ustia village, Dubasari

In the field of Energy Efficiency in public buildings:

  • Increasing energy efficiency of ‘Alexei Mateevici’ Lyceum from Soldanesti city
  • Increasing energy efficiency of ‘Holercani’ Lyceum from Holercani village
  • Increasing energy efficiency of ‘Ion Vatamanu’ Lyceum from Straseni city
  • Increasing energy efficiency of ‘Mihai Eminescu’ Lyceum from Ungheni city

The technical documentation developed for the above-mentioned projects will serve as basis for procurement of construction works, for which additional funding from EU is foreseen.
