On October 29, 2013, the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the Regional Development Agency Center, with the support of the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, held the workshop no. 4 of the Technical Working Group involved in the process of developing the regional strategic plan on Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) under the Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova Project.

The main topics included in the agenda of the workshop no. 4 were as follows:

  • presentation of rayon fiches (based on the results of the previous workshop and additional information submitted by the members of the working groups designed to facilitate the sector planning process);
  • presentation of projections for the development of WSS services by 2020;
  • discussions of gender issues in the WSS;
  • identification of risks and of the sustainability of possible WSS projects.

On each of the announced topics, GIZ-GOPA2 experts made presentations, followed by practical exercises which brought clarity on the content proposed by experts for the TWG members and all participants.

The TWG members were very active and initiated discussions with the aim of clarifying certain issues related to the region in general and each rayon in particular.

After debates, the workshop participants agreed on the vision of the Central Development Region on WSS services by 2020 (ratio of connection to improved water supply systems, ratio of connection to sewage systems, disaggregated by urban and rural areas.)

It was agreed that the rayon WSS fiches would be updated (completed with missing information or updated information under all fiche sections) and sen6 to Center RDA by November 15.

The next meeting of the TWG is scheduled for early December.
