One of the activities implemented by the Academy of Public Administration in partnership with the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of the Republic of Moldova is a capacity building initiative in regional planning education sector. Under this initiative were involved 8 Master degree students of the Academy of Public Administration for the period of 16 months (1 February 2013-30 May 2014). Master degree students were able to participate in workshops on regional planning in three areas: energy efficiency, solid waste management, water supply and sanitation. To them were organized seminars, study visits to pilot projects implemented by the Regional Development Agencies to exchange views, to see the stages of implementation of a regional project and what are the challenges LPAs face. All these activities helped to strengthen capacities in the strategic planning process and to develop master theses. The following Master degree students have been involved in the activities mentioned: Ion Plămădeală, Cristina Bejenaru, Vadim Popa, Artur Corcodel, Lia Ungureanu, Anastasia Rusnac, Mariana Cobâlaş and Daniela Handei.

After all master theses were defended and there were achieved good results in the respective project, on Monday, 16 June, in the meeting of the Academy of Public Administration, Oleg Balan, the Rector, PhD, professor, together with Violeta Bulat project advisor within GIZ, handed Certificates of participation in the capacity building initiative in regional planning education sector.
