On 3 March, in Stefan Voda was held a working meeting within the rayon hospital, where was presented the preliminary version of the Viable Project Concept. The main objective of the meeting was to develop a comprehensive project for heating renovation of the maternity unit within the rayon hospital in order to substantially reduce annual energy consumption and operating costs.

The meeting was attended by members of the group that includes representatives of Stefan Voda rayon council, rayon hospital, experts and GIZ advisors (German Development Cooperation through GIZ) and South Regional Development Agency specialist. They established activities to be undertaken and also clarified some technical issues.

During the meeting, it was discussed the building’s existing technical situation:

  • Roofs’ waterproofing layer is damaged;
  • External walls (partially) are drenched;
  • Indoor air quality is bad and more rooms are affected because of high humidity;
  • Technical condition of windows is unsatisfactory;
  • The institution has limited access to hot water.

For this project, GIZ experts have identified renovation measures that include thermal renovation of all exterior walls with insulation boards (mineral wool) 12 cm; construction and installation of canopies; replacement of all windows/exterior doors; 1/2 block flat roof renovation (insulation thickness on average 16 to 18 cm; thermal insulation of basement ceiling with insulation boards of  12 cm, installing a ventilation system (3 centralized ventilation units will be placed on the flat roof of the building 1) and a thermal substation with a capacity of approx. 300 kW; installation of a sunscreen system on the facade SE and SV; construction of a storm water management system (connection to centralized sewer system).

The following, the members of the Project Working Group will define the viable project concept.

We would like to recall, that these activities are taking place with the support of the Swedish Government and the European Union.
