First meeting of the Regional Working Group (RWG) on private sector support

Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ, by implementing ‘Modernization of Local Public Services’ project have proposed supporting private sector representatives by implementing the sub-component ‘Complementary private sector support’. We would like to reiterate – these activities are taking place with the support of the European Union. Thus, within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, branch office Cahul, was held the first meeting of the Regional Working Group.

In the beginning of the event, Director of RDA South, Ms Maria Culesov said that ‘due to the fact that supporting private sector is one of the priorities of regional development, we are willing to provide the necessary support and advice to all concerned operators in the Region. It is timely and welcomed initiative; especially that it will liquidate some gaps related to public procurement processes.’

MRDC representative and member of the National Working Group, Mr Dorin Andros, said that ‘by the accelerated approach to the European Union, it is required to further adjust all aspects and especially public procurement to EU requirements.’

During the meeting there was briefly described the sub-component ‘Complementary private sector support’, the regional working group’s composition, regulation and activity plan.

There were debated topics related to the composition of the regional working group, date and place of future meetings.

Volker Stötzer, long-term expert within sequa company (Eastern Committee of German Economy) showed willingness to implement the German experience based on the real situation in the Republic of Moldova, organizing information and training seminars with the participation of experts in the field.

In the second half of the day, there was held a round table with the participation of entrepreneurs from the Development Region South. During the activity, the Director of RDA South presented the regional development policy of the country and the region, regional development projects conducted in the Region South.

At the same time, the present entrepreneurs have shown interest in the opportunity to participate in public procurements carried out across the region, as well as aspects related to the regulation on conducting public procurement. After much debates, entrepreneurs have proposed amending the legislation on public procurement, increasing transparency in this process and training LPA of level I in public procurement procedure.

The next meeting of the Regional Working Group on the sub- component  ‘Complementary private sector support’ will be held in September, according to the activity regulation approved, which provides that meetings will be held quarterly.
