Representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the Development Region North (DRN) are trained in order to be able to present in public procurements carried out by the Regional Development Agency North (RDA North) professional and competitive bids, putting a focus on four priority areas for regional development: drinking water supply and sewerage systems; solid waste management; energy efficiency in public buildings; regional and local roads.

Thus, today, within the RDA North was held the first meeting of the Regional Working Group on private sector support, this activity reperesenting as well one of the priorities of the Regional Development Strategy North. In the second half of the day, within Balti Branch office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Moldova was held a round table entitled ‘Public Procurement – opportunities and obstacles in the implementation of investment projects of regional development in the Republic of Moldova’.

Through these activities, financially supported by the Pilot Regional Development Programme of the European Union, the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ it is aimed to provide support and advice to private sector representatives. Training sessions in this regard will be held quarterly, by the end of 2015, within the sub-project ‘Complementary private sector support’, part of the project ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’, implemented by GIZ .

During the first meeting of the working group it was presented the sub-project ‘Complementary private sector support’ and the action plan.

Director of RDA North, Ion Bodrug appointed the president of the working group on private sector support in the DRN, emphasized the importance of supporting entrepreneurs in the context of our country’s approach to the EU. ‘Businesses from DRN will benefit from our support, so that together to achieve better results in regional development, especially as the time approaches when we will need to implement projects from EU funds, which means more responsibility and professionalism at the highest level, said the Director of RDA North, thanking European partners for their support.

Representative of MRDC, Ecaterina Culev argues that in the context of approaching the European Union, these types of meetings are more than welcome, following our country to adjust public procurement regulation to EU norms.

Volker Stötzer, long-term expert within Sequa Company, expressed willingness to organize information seminars and training with participation of experts in the field, in order to disseminate the experience of Germany in the Republic of Moldova.

During the round table organized at the Branch office Balti of the CCI, the Director of RDA North presented the regional development policy of DRN and regional development projects portfolio implemented ​​by RDA North. Entrepreneurs present at the event were interested in aspects of public procurement regulation proceedings initiated by the RDA North, opting to operate a number of changes to the public procurement law.

The next meeting of the Regional Working Group within the mentioned sub-project will be held in September. Such meetings are held in all development regions in the country.
