“The policy of the Government of Moldova on waste management implies development of infrastructure and services necessary for properly protecting the environment at the global, national and local levels against the effects associated with the management of waste generated by citizens, businesses and institutions. The Government will establish the legal and institutional framework to support the gradual alignment of our waste management practices to those of the European Union. Through partnerships at international, national and local levels, we will encourage and attract the investment necessary to enable sustainable development of the sector, according to priority needs in an affordable rate for society “- the Strategy notes.

As intersectoral collaboration is important in waste  management, since 2012 the “Convention on the Navigation on the Danube” project  has been implemented under the Transnational Cooperation Program in Central and Eastern Europe (WANDA CO”, where Moldova is represented as an associate member by the Regional Development Agency South.
