A new works contract in the amount approx. MDL 27 million will kick off the construction of the main water pipeline Cahul-Lebedenco- Pelinei-Gavanoasa- Vulcanesti (villages) – Alexandru Ioan Cuza and internal networks of villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca and Nicolaevca from Cahul rayon (Phase I)

‘Polimer Gaz Conducte’ Company from the Republic of Moldova executing the construction of  the main water pipeline Cahul-Lebedenco- Pelinei – Gavanoasa – Vulcanesti (villages)- Alexandru Ioan Cuza and internal networks of villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca  and Nicolaevca from Cahul rayon (Phase I), shall execute in the course of 4 months since the receipt of the building permit a sustainable water supply infrastructure for several localities from Cahul rayon.

In this context, on Monday, 24 September the South Reginal Development Agency in the person of the director and the Cahul Rayon Council represented by the president of rayon Ion Groza signed with the given contractor the works contract. 

It is to be mentioned, that the economic operator awarded with the contract, was designated a successful tenderer of the public tender no. 18/05 organised for the construction of the main water pipeline Cahul-Lebedenco- Pelinei – Gavanoasa – Vulcanesti (villages)- Alexandru Ioan Cuza and internal newtworks of villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca  and Nicolaevca from Cahul rayon (Phase I) due to the fact that the value of the submitted bid met the main award criterion established by the contracting authority – the lowest price, which is  MDL  27.307.804,07.

The investment measure ‘Construction of the main water pipeline Cahul-Lebedenco- Pelinei – Gavanoasa – Vulcanesti (villages)- Alexandru Ioan Cuza and internal newtworks of villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca and Nicolaevca from Cahul rayon’ Phase I is financed from funds of the Swiss Development Agency (SDC) / EUR 2.2 million via GIZ, under the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project. As a result of project’s phase I implementation approx. 11 km of main water pipeline will be constructed and approx. 25 km of internal water networks for Lebedenco, Hutulu and Ursoaia localities with around 2665 inhabitants having access to quality drinking water source.

The above-mentioned project contributes to the implementation of the initiative of developing the water supply and sanitation sector and carrying on the realisation of the Socio-Economic Strategy of Cahul rayon with regard to water supply and sanitation component.
