On 10 October 2018, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI) the ceremony of official handing of participation certificates to energy managers from rayon councils took place. These managers completed the ‘EUREM course – European Energy Manager 2018’. The event was attended by the CCI management represented by Sergiu Harea, director of institution, Her Excellency (H.E.),  Angela Ganninger, German ambassador in the Republic of Moldova and other Embassy representatives; representatives of Swedish Embassy in the Republic of Moldova and the management of ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the republic of Moldova’ project in the person of Christina Otto.

The course ‘EUREM – European Energy Manager 2018’ was held over a six months period – March – July 2018 – and consisted of 18 modules. Under these modules, 14 energy managers form rayon councils have studied the latest practices and knowledge in the related field. The course was organised by CCI and supported via the MLPS project implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ. 

Sergiu Harea, director of CCI: ‘Since the launching of this course in 2011, 123 energy managers got certified. They are already part of the process related to examination and preparation of documentation providing the possibility for us to invest in EE field both in public buildings, as well as, in other real estate. This year with the assistance of German and Swedish Governments, CCI had the opportunity to support another 14 energy managers at this course, representing the regions of the country and who on its completion will go and apply the knowledge and experience out in the field’. 

H.E. Ganninger, German Ambassador in the Republic of Moldova: ‘The climate changes represent a global problem for all people. This is why we should pay more attention to this field. It’s not a surprise that one of priority sectors of MLPS is energy efficiency in public buildings… An important factor in this respect is the cooperation with local and regional partners, as the graduates of the EUREM course will take over the role of intermediaries in informing the citizens about modern energy efficiency possibilities’.  

Alexandru Marian, energy manager of Calarasi rayon: ‘The EUREM course helped us as future energy managers to know more relevant information and have more knowledge about the energy sector. It is important now that we’ve completed the course to apply this knowledge and practices. Also, I believe it will help us identify knew possible technical solutions which will lead to saving energy and provide necessary support to LPAs in making calculations and determining the necessary amount of investments’. 

The ‘EUREM course – European Energy Manager 2018’ took place in March – June 2018. 14 energy managers from rayon councils have undergone training. The course completed with a public presentation of energy efficiency projects the participants have realised during the training. In the Republic of Moldova, the EUREM course was established on 4 April 2011. In its initial phase, the course was provided with the financial support of the German Government via the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLSP) project implemented by the German development Cooperation through GIZ and of the German Committee of Germany Economy (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova. Beginning with 2014, also, the Swedish Government embarked on supporting this course via the MLPS project.
