18 successful initiatives on the use and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency have been awarded at “Gala Moldova Eco Energetica” Award Ceremony, 2013 edition, an event that took place on the evening of December 6, at Mihai Eminescu Theater. Over 300 guests, representatives of the top authorities of the Republic of Moldova, ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, private sector, academia and civil society attended the event.

“Out task is to achieve alignment to European Union standards. In this respect, we joined the Energy Community and we intend to benefit from membership of an integrated European energy market. Production of renewable sources will bring multiple benefits to citizens, such as additional revenue, jobs, thermal comfort and reduced harmful impact on the environment,” said Iurie Leanca, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.

60 files submitted to “Moldova Eco Energetica”, 2013 edition, competed for the title of the best project in the use and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The cases were filed by individuals, public institutions, private companies, media and NGOs during the active period of the contest: June 5 – September 20. The files included in the competition were examined in three stages: (1) review of submitted files by evaluation panels, (2) field trip (3) decision of the Coordination Council.

18 finalists – individuals, businesses, public institutions, NGOs – were chosen as winners of the 2013 edition:

    • Photovoltaic: Boris Grama in Hartopul Mic village, Criuleni, Oncology Hospital
    • Heat: Sanitation Service
  • The Best Wind Energy Project: Anton Port, Popeasca village, Ştefan Vodă rayon
  • Best Bioenergy Project:
    • Production of solid biofuels: SG Green Farm
    • Production of liquid biofuels: SC Junicart-Com
    • Assembly and / or installation of equipment associated with bioenergy production: Moldagrotehnica
    • Heat production: Polimer Gaz Conducte; Dumbrăviţa LPA I, Sângerei rayon
    • Production of gas biofuels: Sudzucker-Moldova, Tevas Grup
  • The Best Geothermal Energy Project: Elimul Nou & Modern Term High School
  • Orhei Rayon Hospital, the best energy efficiency project in the public sector
    • Construction sector / services: Linella SRL & Dina Cociug SRL
    • Industrial sector
    • Public sector: Tătărăuca Veche village, Soroca rayon
  • Best Communications Initiative: FurioSnails
  • Best Educational Initiative: Institute of Continuing Education
  • Best Youth Initiative: Young Inventors Club
  • Special Award: Europlast Grup

Moldova Eco Energetica is the largest competitive award of successful initiatives in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. Moldova Eco Energetica is organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Energy Efficiency Agency, in partnership with Moldova Energy and Biomass Project, funded by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by UNDP.

“I want to congratulate everyone on the occasion of the third edition of Moldova Eco Energetica, the short time in which it managed to become an important event, that brings together all key actors in the sector, including representatives of the Government, private sector, academia, civil society and development partners” said Nicola Harrington -Buhay, UNDP resident Representative.

Moldova Eco Energetica Contest for 2014 will be launched in the first half of next year.
