The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova and the German Development Cooperation through GIZ launched the practical training for Local Public Administration “EUREM – European Energy Manager”.

The course, launched on 23 September, will provide training for energy managers of the rayon councils. The training includes 18 modules that cover all aspects of energy efficiency: legislation, innovation, renewables, modern technologies, including methods of calculation.

“Thanks to support from the German partners, since 2011 we managed to train our own experts in energy efficiency, with 56 graduates of the course, including representatives of the public local authorities and the private sector. Now we witness the launch of this program for an important category of beneficiaries – energy managers of rayon councils. I urge you to be those people who change things in this country, so please take this training seriously, because we want to be in line with the German standards. Please be sure that you will have to work hard to get this certificate” said Valeriu Lazar, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova.

The opening ceremony was also attended by HE Ulrike Knotz, Ambassador of Germany in the Republic of Moldova, who stressed the importance of training in this area, noting that: “Energy efficiency is essential both in terms of economy, the country’s development, but also politics, as it contributes to people’s wellbeing. We all need to be involved in shaping and refining the measures to enhance energy efficiency . “

The senior international GIZ consultant, Dietrich Hahn, congratulated and encouraged the trainees for this new activity, asking them to be aware that they will be closest people to public authorities and ordinary citizens in providing support and help in development of energy efficiency projects.

The course will run from September 2014 to June 2015 and will end with a public presentation of energy efficiency projects, which will be developed by trainees during the training.

The EUREM course was launched in Moldova on April 4, 2011 and is conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI RM) with support of the Ministry of Economy and with the financial support of the Government of Germany through the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and the Eastern Committee of German Economy.
