By means of democratic vote, there were elected the members of Local Citizens’ Committee (LCC), who will supervise the implementation of the project on water supply and sanitation of the village. 

The nine members of LCC were elected unanimously. In order to have a better organization of the Committee’s meetings, it has been developed and approved a Regulation on operation. At the same time, it has been appointed a President, Deputy President and the Secretary, as follows: Sergiu Gavajuc Veronica Polisciuc and Ana Lungu.

According to the approved regulation, LCC is an organizational structure with public character, not a legal entity, composed of citizens with initiative of equal rights, including equality before authorities, representative for the social structure of the local community, and that will monitor the effectiveness and quality of the implementation of investment projects on infrastructure development of services for water supply and sanitation, financed by the German’s government sources through the German Development Cooperation through GIZ and managed by the North Regional Development Agency (RDA).

The basic tasks of LCC’s members consist of monitoring the implementation of projects, analysis of collected information and possibilities of solving the problems and shortcomings certified, making proposals for solving them by the decision-makers of LPA, Local Council, North RDA, GIZ, and so on, as appropriate.

At the same time, LCC plays an important role in encouraging local initiative and direct involvement of citizens in project implementation activities in the community; participation in the activities organized within the project, in collaboration and coordination with LPA and local project manager.

LCC’s mandate duration covers the whole period of implementation of projects financed through GIZ.

We would like to recall, that recently, there were approved for funding from GIZ sources four investment measures, aiming to improve water and sanitation infrastructure and provide quality services for the population from Costesti, totaling 852. 452 Euros. Thus, it is to be rebuilt the Costesti Waste Water Treatment Plant, expand sanitation networks in the town of Costeti and the village of Duruitoarea Veche, and strengthen technical capabilities of local water service provider Î.M. “Apa-Canal Costesti.” The projects will be implemented by North RDA during 2014-2015.
