The Press Club was attended by journalists of  local and regional media institutions from the rayons of South Region, managers of regional development projects, the director of RDA South, Maria Culesov, head of project management section within RDA South, Eugen Lupascu.

As chairman of the event, Executive director of AIP, Petru Macovei mentioned that “this activity is meant to help the Regional Development Agencies and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction in communicating with the media, in particular; we insist on an interaction between the media and RDAs, as feed-back is not always the one that we want”.

Project managers present were as following:

  • Ion Veste – project manager “The construction of access road to the House Museum “Alexei Mateevici” from Zaim village, Causeni rayon”
  • Vera Ciuchitu – project manager “Sports tourism in promoting the image of the South region – Causeni Sports Complex “
  • Vasile Tocaru – project manager “Construction of access road Codreni – Sagaidacul Nou “

The discussion focused on the successes and obstacles encountered in the implementation of regional development projects, completed projects impact on the community, and whether investments meet expectations. Thus, Mr. Ion Veste, mentioned the considerable increase in the number of tourists visiting the museum “Alexei Mateevici”. The same situation faced Causeni Sports Complex, “it has achieved its purpose as a regional sports center”, said Mrs. Vera Ciuchitu.

Finally, the director of RDA South, Mrs. Maria Culesov suggested to journalists “to monitor the situation and after the projects’ completion; what is the attitude of beneficiaries and the situation of goods forwarded to beneficiaries. Such monitoring would also ensure sustainability; it would make people more aware and responsible in some cases “.

Mr. Ilie Gluh, RadioMoldova reporter, emphasized that the media should not only inform, but also shape attitudes and behavior of citizens through information provided.

 The “Press Club” allowed participants to identify joint goals and priorities, which, once achieved, would benefit the entire community.

The event took place with the support of the project “Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova” with sources provided by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ in partnership with Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
