On 1 March 2018, in Calarasi the official inauguration of the Boiler Plant and solar panel system for preparation of hot water at Calarasi Rayon Hospital took place. The investment measures were financially supported by the German Government via the ‘Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova’ (MLPS) project, implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ.

The reconstruction works for the Boiler Plant and installation of the solar panel system for preparation of hot water were carried out in August – December 2017, and the total cost of the investment measures is MDL 8,37 million.

The inauguration was attended by the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, accredited diplomatic missions, local public administration, employees of Calarasi Rayon Hospital, journalists and inhabitants of the town.

It is an approach which is implemented in the whole world and the use of solar energy for the Republic of Moldova is very important. And we further need this kind of projects. The renovation of the Boiler Plant will provide heating to the entire Calarasi Rayon Hospital and the installation of the solar panel system will provide hot water for all needs of the hospital. Both measures will lead to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) by up to 40%.

Annually, around 9000 patients are beneficiaries of the services provided by the Calarasi Rayon Hospital.
