Quality tap water and access to sanitation system for rural residents – is the joint project of the governments of Moldova and Germany – which continues. Today, the Prime Minister Iurie Leancă visited Costesti commune from Riscani rayon, where such a project was launched.

Villagers from Duruitoarea Veche who are part of Costesti commune, said they were satisfied with the water supply system. They have told the Prime Minister that in 2010, when due to high temperature the wells dried up, they could not believe in the viability of a project that will bring quality tap water, even in their homes.

“Access to tap water is a huge joy especially for rural women. Now we are modern. It was very difficult with household issues, when we had to bring water from the well, which was polluted “said a local.

The mayor of the locality claims that along with water supply, people’s interest in the buildings from the area increased.

The Prime Minister talked to the villagers about the need to improve infrastructure in the area, road construction and investments, which would guarantee job opportunities for people.

“With access to quality tap water, adequate infrastructure and paid working places, those living in villages will benefit from the same conditions as urban dwellers” said the Prime Minister at a meeting with residents of Costesti.

The total value of water supply and sanitation network construction project is nearly two Mio EUR. There are 4130 inhabitants in Costesti commune.
