Poland will support Moldova in implementation of the National Regional Development Strategy (NSRD) for the next five years. Polish support will be provided under a project launched today at the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) and aims to ensure sustainable economic growth in the regions.

“I express my gratitude to the Polish Government for the ongoing support offered to the Republic of Moldova and the confidence in the Ministry in implementation of joint projects. We highly appreciate the effort of experts who worked side by side with specialists of the Ministry in drafting the National Regional Development Strategy for the years 2016-2020, as the document is an important tool in stimulating balanced and sustainable economic development in the development regions. Polish experience will help us to coordinate sector policies to the benefit of the citizens”, the Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Vasile Bitca, said at the project launching ceremony.

The Minister also made clear that this project will include an exchange of experience and good practices in urban development. Thus, by the end of the current year two missions of foreign experts will make a visit in our country to identify the existing legal framework in this area and develop proposals for development of an efficient urban policy.

The Deputy Secretary of State of the Polish Ministry of Economic Development (MED), Paweł Chorąży, stressed the special role of our country in the Polish Government policy and expressed the willingness to support continuously Moldova in the balanced economic development of the regions.

“This project is different by its nature from those previously carried out jointly with the Republic of Moldova because it highlights the challenges faced by both countries. We will provide the experience and the best practice in urban development, housing construction and coordination of sector policies for the benefit of citizens and will identify the opportunities for future collaboration. I feel honoured to have the opportunity to announce that we developed within the Ministry a strategy to help countries to develop, and the Republic of Moldova is a priority state. Therefore, we will identify opportunities of implementation not only of projects of experts, but also of those tangible for citizens”, Paweł Chorąży said.

We mention that the project “Support of Public Administration in the Republic of Moldova in implementing the National Regional Development Strategy 2016-2020” provides for the establishment of some guidelines and recommendations that will enhance skills and competencies of public administration in Moldova to develop urban areas as drivers of balanced economic development.
