For the implementation of the project “Construction of the main water pipe Leova-Iargara”, the German government has allocated 2.5 Mio Euros, which could be exploited for the construction of the water supply infrastructure in Leova rayon. In this context, it is necessary to make a range of activities which provide for the update of Socio Economic Development Strategy of Leova rayon in water supply and sanitation sector, as well as developing a feasibility study.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Directorate General for Regional Development within the MRDC, Valerian Binzaru, the president of Leova District Council, Mrs. Efrosinia Gretu, South RDA’s representatives, mayors of localities from the rayon, GIZ experts, and specialists from Leova District Council.

During the meeting there was presented the action plan, distributed the questionnaire for data collection as to update the SEDS and develop the feasibility study.

P.Panus, representative of GIZ expert team, explained in detail the character of the information requested, the procedures for completing the questionnaire, and answered several questions received from those present at the meeting.

Valerian Binzaru, the head of DGRD reiterated that “the efficiency of necessary strategic documents’ development depends on the activism and responsible involvement of Leova District Council and mayors. Both the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, as well as South RDA will provide the necessary support as to reduce the terms of drafting documents”, specified Valerian Binzaru.

The president of Leova rayon, Mrs. Efrosinia Gretu expressed her gratitude to those present for responsiveness, to GIZ team for their support and to South RDA and MRDC for collaboration and results.

Starting next week, it will be initiated data collection process, according to the recommendations made ​​by GIZ experts.
